{Week 2}

Week 2 down! 4 more to go!!

The second week here at Vicente Wolf {pronounced" VI-CEN-TE} went a lot better than the first.

I have been paired up with the senior designer on 2 projects: PROJECT SINGER and PROJECT GITLITZ.

I have been doing a lot of estimating on fabrics, custom furniture, carpet and custom rugs. IT has been interesting to see the back end of the design process and how much work really goes in to everything besides the design aspect. I really miss being in the design phase, but I guess you have to learn all sides to be a successfull designer!

I have been building alot of Vicente's custom CRAZY furniture, which is kinda scary because what I build and dimension I send to the carpenter and he builds it!! I get so scared sending them because I am not so sure they are always right, but Vicente passes them off so I guess they are good! It has been fun watching Vicente and David {the senior designer} work together and argue about every little thing! they can put together a whole room materials, furnishings, everything in a matter of like 2-3 hours! Its amazing. They do have a very layed out system that they follow well so I guess that helps.

City life has been great, we have seen a lot of cool things and I have been inspired by many of the old buildings and the modern insert of the city. I have come to love old classic architecture with modern furnishings. Example: like a great Corthinthan pillar next to a sexy, sleek panton chair. So beautiful.

The city is crazy and it never slows down. I love the excitment and the thrill of it, but I sure so miss the friendlyness of people.

{Week 1 in the Big Apple}

Week 1 is down and 5 more to go!

I have learned that I do NOT like working for free! I have a hard time wanting to go to work, not only for not getting paid but for the fact that right now in the office, its a bit slow! They really don't have that much for me to do right now so I have to find very small tasks to keep me busy for 8 hours a day.

This past week I was able to work on a chair for a Breast Cancer auction that the firm is donating. I had to take a white Swan chair and wrap pink ribbon all around it. Vicente's inspiration was founded on a chair he found back in Europe somewhere and wanted to incorporate it with this event. When I look at it I get the feeling of togetherness, of all kinds of people coming together to help fight this disease.

I think it turned out well a {it took me 3 days!!} and I hope that it goes well at the auction in June.

I hope in the following weeks that I will be able to start doing more in the office and start learning new sources, ideas, inspiration and techincal skills while im here.

This blog is for me to keep my inspirations, thoughts and other randoms all together.

Hope you enjoy!

p.s ill post pic of the office and other things soon.
